Key Stage 2 results 2009 |
At the beginning of December, 2009, the Key Stage 2 SATs results were published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families. I am aware that there have been some negative headlines regarding primary school perfomance and I wanted to share with you all some good news about the performance of this school. At the end of KS2 (Y6) pupils are expected to be at Level 4; achievement at L5 is above expected levels. * In July 2009 at Drayton Park School, 81% of Year 6 achieved L4 or higher in the English tests; 27% at L5. The national average for England at L4+ was 80%. * In Maths, 84% of last year’s Year 6 achieved L4 or higher in the tests; 35% at L5. The national average for England at L4+ was 79%. * In Science,84% of last year’s Year 6 achieved L4 or higher in the tests; 54% at L5. The national average for England was 88%. * Nationally, 72% of Y6 pupils achieved L4+ in both English and Maths; at Drayton Park School 78% of last year’s Y6 achieved L4+ in both English and Maths. * Our L5 results (i.e those results above the expected level) are at national levels in both English and Maths and higher, by 11%, in Science. * Our Contextual Value-Added score of 101 records how much impact we have had on our pupils achievement and how it compares to other schools. A score of 101 means that, on average, the Y6 pupils achieved one term’s more progress than the national average. We are in the top 25% of all schools nationally. We are very pleased with, and proud of, our achievements which involved staff and pupils working really hard. We know there is more to be done and we are not complacent about our achievements but I am sure you will all agree that we are going in the right direction. |

School Awards |
We have lucky enough to receive the following awards in the last year:- Our Healthy School award reflects the importance we attach to teaching our pupils about healthy lifestyles. We promote healthy eating, have a fruit tuck shop and our new school meal provider, Caterlink, has a huge emphasis on fresh produce and home-cooked meals. Using Brain Gym and Circle Time we also help to promote emotional literacy. A Teaching Award was awarded to our Headteacher who came 3rd in the Headteacher of the Year in a Primary School competition The Sustainable Travel Award reflects the work we have done around encouraging children and their parents to walk or cycle to school. We have a brand-new covered bike shed which has encouraged even more children to cycle. We are working towards the Silver Level. We are lucky enough to have been awarded £7090 by “Awards for all” to provide clubs for our extended school before and after the school day. (See the extended school timetable) |
