Out and About

The Foundation Subjects

Library
Our library is on the first floor and has a wide range of books catering for all levels and abilities of readers. Children use the library on a weekly basis with their class teacher. During these visits they may hear the teacher read a story, carry out research on project work or sit and read a book themselves. The library offers an ideal quiet space for the children as well as giving them an opportunity to learn library skills. All children can take their reading books home with them.
Classes also visit Fieldway Crescent Children's Library, from where they can borrow books.

School Trips
We want our pupils to have a broad and enjoyable education, which allows them to have a wide range of experiences. Throughout the year there are trips organised to complement the work being done in class. We are proud to be a London school and want our pupils to be able to enjoy the great diversity of the Capital. We take advantage of the huge range of cultural and educational opportunities available to us and make sure that no child is prevented from participating for financial reasons. During their time at Drayton Park School, our pupils will visit the important religious buildings of the Capital's main faith groups.

Year 6 school journey
In October we organise a weeklong adventure trip away for our Year 6 pupils. This is a memorable way of helping children bond with each other and their teachers at the start of an academically tough year.

Charging policy
We sometimes ask for small voluntary contributions to cover the cost of transport and entrance fees. Without these, it would not be possible to organise as many trips and activities. However, it is the school’s policy that no child should miss any educational activity through inability to pay. Parents, governors and staff make a great effort to raise the money to pay for children who could not otherwise afford to go on trips. If any parent has difficulty paying a voluntary contribution for any activity or outing, please let the headteacher or office know so that we can help. We treat all requests for help confidentially.
All musical instrument lessons take place on a self-financing basis, but we have raised funds for a bursary scheme so that children whose parents would have difficulty paying for lessons can take part.

School fund
There is a school fund to which parents and friends are welcome to contribute. The school fund is never used to buy basic equipment such as textbooks, pencils and papers, but it is used to pay for extras such as visiting theatre groups and outings subsidies. We would be most grateful for any help you can give.
